23 June 2012 Financial controllers are usually CPAs with multiple years experience in financial accounting. They must have excellent communication skills, strong software knowledge and experience, and be detail oriented. Strong supervisory skills are usually needed, also. Financial controllers need to be current with regulations affecting the industry and effects upon the company. They need to be knowledgeable about company procedures and compliance issues.

on the otherhandA financial manager is responsible for providing financial advice and support to clients and colleagues to enable them to make sound business decisions. Specific work environments vary considerably and include both public and private sector organisations, such as multinational corporations, retailers, financial institutions, NHS trusts, charities, small manufacturing companies and universities.
