First time trying to pay income tax

05 April 2016 Hello all,
I have never filed (or paid) Income Tax since 2012 when I first joined a job; my first pay was Rs.22,000 per month take home in 2012. Though I am not a defaulter-intent person, I never did it because, may be, I was not educated to do so nor did any company I worked with pushed me to do the same. My current pay is Rs.41,000 take home. My current company (which is the 4th one) recently asked me to file income tax, submit Form-16, but I was negligent and as my previous company never asked me to file income Tax I did not have Form-16 to submit, hence I missed paying tax again. I AM VERY WORRIED. I want to pay Tax. Please guide me what should I do next.

06 April 2016 Get your last employers Form 16 information and file the return on line by logging into www.incometaxindiaefling.gov.in.

Current Employer's Form 16 will be issued by May 2016 and you need to file it on or before 31st July 2016.

You can take help of any of your colleagues who have already filed the return, so that you are compliant in filing your returns. In case, you feel that they can not help you, take the help of a CA or Tax expert and get the return filed.

06 April 2016 You don't need to worry......"First time" always comes with excitement. You don't need to worry consult any good tax practitioner near you area and ask them what to do. They will guide you properly. Salary employee have not to worry because mostly employees tax will be deducted by employer and they give form 16 to employee to file income tax return. Employee just have to file return thats it...!!!
