I had applied for firm name registration in the first week of november 2012
However, still there is no communication from institute.
Can anybody tell me how long does it take for registering one's firm and getting the FRN
How should i follow up the matter

It takes really a long time. You need to wait for another month or so. In the mean time, since the elections are close by, contact some of the contestant.. he/she can do it for you.
