Filing of nil etds return, is it compulsory

06 April 2012 COULD ANY ONE PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHETHER IS IT COMPULSORY TO SUBMIT ETDS RETURN EVEN IF I HAVE NOT DEDUCTED TDS AND NOT PAID FOR ANY ONE?

AND ALSO LET ME KNOW IF I HAVE NOT DEDUCTED TDS FROM SALARY FOR THE WHOLE YEAR AND DEDUCTED IN MARCH 2012, PL LET ME KNOW WHETHER I AM SUPPOSED TO SUBMIT ETDS RETURN FOR THE FIRST 3 QUARTERS?

06 April 2012 for non deduction you don't need to file ETDS return but atleast one last qtr. return need to file NIL return even not deducted any amount

for 24Q salary return if you deduct in Q4 then you need to file last qtr return not first 3 qtr.

06 April 2012 Dear kishor,

If there no TDS payable (u/s 192)on payment of salary, as per act you are not legally bind to file the TDS Return but today nobody want to receive notice from TDS department & subsequently filing TDS Return.

So the Best Course of Action is you file TDS Return for Q4 as it will cover the entire salary amount of Q1+Q2+Q3+Q4.
