When we have only purchase in a particular month i.e. no manufacturing, should we file ER-1 as NIL for that month. Kindly confirm

if there is no opening /closing balance of quantity/ cenvat credit/pla balance, then it will go as NIL return. otherwise only manufacture and clearance will get nil and all balances should be shown

Even if you have no opening balance of CENVAT/PLA, you can not file NIl return. As when you select Nil return, there is no option of CENVAT balances. i.e., you will not be able to show your balance of part-ii.
