Filing it returns

02 July 2012 i work in kerala state electricity board. i was informed from the office i work that IT returns should be filed at the IT office in the district i work i.e. palakkad district because it came to their notice that last time many of the employees who worked at palakkad who were natives of trivandrum filed their returns at IT office in trivandrum and did not get their returns . they also informed me that if you are filing online there is no problem . actually i am a native of trivandrum district.

can you let me know is it necessary to file at IT office at palakkad itself or can i file IT returns from any other district office.

03 July 2012 With online filing of a tax return, it is very easy to prove filing the return, get tax refund or follow up in future. You should analyse filing a tax return online to avoid any problem.

03 July 2012 Hi Mr. Prasad, you can file return of income in the jurisdiction where you work OR the place you are resident of. Both are proper compliance. With recent developments, it is also easy to file your return online and send the acknowledgement to Central Processing Centre, Bangalore. You can choose your option.
