Esi and mediclaim insurance

The employer deducted ESIC from my salary every month. Can I avail the ESI deducted amount as an exemption u/s 80C ? I have mediclaim policy also.

Pls.advice.

11 May 2012 No. you cannot avail the exemption under section 80C. As the section does not includes the ESI Contributions.
