Enquiry about seeking rebate for the interest paid on home loan

This query is : Resolved

Quick Summary
If you're paying 100% of the EMIs for a jointly owned property from your account, you can claim the full permissible rebate on the interest paid. Even though the property is in joint names, your sole contribution to the loan repayments makes you eligible for the entire deduction limit.

29 July 2023 I raised a home loan jointly with my wife and got the property registered in our joint name. Now I have started paying the 100% loan EMIs from my account and the interest payable for the full year is Rs. 266312. Can I alone claim the rebate on a full permissible limit of Rs. 200000/- while filing the ITR?

29 July 2023 Yes, you are eligible.

12 September 2024 Good Luck.
