27 October 2012 Hello Sir

I am working in manufacturing co. of electrical panel. and we have reached 1.85 crore torn over this year.

but in this amount we have purchased transformer for site installation purpose and many other trading activities. and our core manufacturing is about 90 lakhs.

so please advise us about excise registration is now mandatory or not

what is excise registration eligibility in details.

27 October 2012 SSI unit having turnover below Rs. 150 lakhs, which are exempt from duty, are also exempt from provisions of registering their unit with excise authorities.

27 October 2012 but we have cross 1.5 crore (with trading) and our core manufacturing is still 90 lkh

so in this condition, we come in excise liability or not

27 October 2012 Trading of goods will not be count in 1.5cr only manufacturing turnover will be count.

but if any audit held regarding to excise and officer will say u have crossed 150 lakh then how i will satisfied them

what i will tell them

27 October 2012 Dear aaditya,
you can advise to him that excise duty will be applicable on manufacturing activity, trading of goods will not be count for the purpose of calculation SSI exemption.
