Education cess calculation in ITR-6 Excel utility.

16 September 2010 Dear All,

At the time filling the details in ITR-6 excel utility, I found a unique thing.

The present excel utility available @ NSDL site, calculates the education cess on the total tax payable as per IT Act.

So even if the MAT liability is more & we need to pay the MAT, the utility calculates the education cess on the tax payable as per IT normal provisions !

Can anybody explain what to do ?

16 September 2010 Cannot explain as not using that software.

If there is a option to input education cess manually then do the same and ignore the mistake. There are many mistakes in the ITR utility like in ITR - 4 there is no place to put exemption u/s 54 as other exemptions are given in CG sch like 54B/54EC and their like.

OUR E-FILING FORMS ARE NOT 100% FILLABLE AUTOMATICALLY WITH CORRECTNESS. WE HAVE TO FILL SOME DATA MANUALLY BY OUR UNDERSTANDING IN THAT PLACE WHICH IT SEEMS TO BE APPROPRIATE TO US.

17 September 2010 yes. Some times ITRs, we unable to found some provisions what exactly we required, since this is starting stage,Deparment may come with complete solutions in future
