is it liability to file manually or efiling for persons having a salary of less than 5 lac.... of taxable income

14 August 2013 1. If the income is less than Rs. 5 lakhs then e-filing is NOT mandatory.

2. If the income BEFORE claiming deduction under Chapter VIA (80C, 80D, etc) exceeds the maximum amount not chargeable to tax, then filing of return is mandatory for the AY 2013-14.

19 August 2013 actually, i meant to ask.. if the returns are not filed for a salaried individual before 31st july.. i think we can file before 31-3-14... but what is the effect of the delay

29 August 2013 Yes you can file till 31-3-2014.

As such there will be no impact since he is a salaried individual.

If however, there is tax payable then interest u/s 234A, 234B and 234C shall be charged.
