For A.Y. 2013-14 e-filing of ITR having income of Rs. 5 lacs is mandatory.
This income is whether Gross Income or Total Income for e-filing purpose, please clarify.

If TOTAL INCOME exceeds Rs 5 lakhs

It should be income on which tax is payable. It is not material whether the TDS has been deducted or not.
