Have filed my e-return on 28 July 08. Am told that I need to submit Form V within 15 days of date of e-filing. Will the last date of July 31, 08 be applicable to Form V aswell?

No,you have to file ITR-V from the date of filing of e-return.i.e. 28 july + 15 days

You can file The form V within 15 days of your online filing date. and you can file the Form V after 31st July also.

CBDT press release on 18th July says "ITR-V verification form is in the nature of an acknowledgement, and therefore, the
same should be received by giving a Return Receipt Number, as if it were a return.
These ITR-V verification forms are to be received in separate counters to be set up
for the purpose and these forms should be kept in safe custody;"
This is the source of confusion, since Form V is mentioned here to be treated as return. Should not the last date of filing apply to Form V also

Iam sure about it.. You can file Form V even after 31st july. but it should be within 15 days of filing return of income.

Yes it is right. U can file the Form V after 15 days from the date of E-filing of ur return even after 31st July, 08.
