24 July 2013 CAN EVER BE DURATION OF BOND BE MORE THAN ITS MATURITY period....PLZ EXPLAIN HOW?
AND WHY DURATION OF BOND IS IMPERATIVE FOR INVESTORS WHEN THEY WILL GET THEIR MONEY ONLY AT THE TIME OF MATURITY.

24 July 2013 duration of bond is mesured in time -months/ days / years etc.

maturity value means amount receievable on the expiration of duration of bond pre-decided.

duration is very imp as time is the ultimate base for any decsion in financial matters so always there is oppurtunity cost which otherwise if invested else may earn more amt wrt to time.

24 July 2013 CAN Duration be ever more than maturity period?

24 July 2013 no. duration has to be same as maturity period unless u redem it earlier then actual maturity period.
