07 February 2012 Dear sir,
Iam paying per month Rs.3000/- to an old age home in my native place at Kerala for food and accomadation to my mentally retarded sister.The home is registered trust being head office at chennai.The receipt is printed with exemption from income tax.Can I awail Rs.36000/- i.e.Rs.3000 X 12 as deduction from the total salary income under 80G for this year

08 February 2012 U CAN CLAIM DEDUCTION UPTO RS 50000 (75OOO IF UR SISTER IS SEVERLY ILL) STRAIGHT UNDER SECTION 80DD IF U FULFIL CERTAIN CONDITIONS EVEN IF TOTAL EXP IS 36000 ONLY

08 February 2012 Partly Agreed with CA Manoj Gupta Ji because so far as 80G is Concerned maximum 50% of Donation Amount with a Ceiling Limit of 10% of Gross Total Income will be applicable....
