22 January 2008 Distinctive nos. of shares identify the shares issued by the company. The distinguish nos. help identify the ownership of the shares numbered with particular distiguished nos. with respective owners. They also act as controlling nos. for shares issued. That is why the nos. which identify the corresponding shares are mentioned on the face of share certificates pertaining to the shares.

22 January 2008 It is in case of physical shares. In dematerialisation itis not there.

24 January 2008 Hi Dolly,

Distinctive Numbers are the identification number of the shares. The shares are located by its distinctive no. Shares are alloted to shareholders according to its distinctive number. Distinctive nos. are unique in nature ie same distinctive no. shall not be issued to two different shareholders.
