Discrepancy in AIS

This query is : Resolved

Quick Summary
There's a common issue where the Annual Information Statement (AIS) shows different figures for equity share sales and capital gains compared to your broker's statement. The advice is to check both sources carefully and report any discrepancies. If the AIS has incorrect excess sales/gains, you can provide online feedback. For sales not recorded in AIS, you should report the actual figures in your Income Tax Return (ITR).

09 July 2024 The amount/expenditure shown under Sale of listed equity shares in the AIS for FY 23-24 does not agree with the amount in the Capital Gains Statement issued by the Broker. Do i have to take up with the Broker or submit online feedback on the relevant entry in the AIS?

10 July 2024 Check both the data, either or both can have mistakes. So, report wherever any difference found. Generally AIS has such anomality.

11 July 2024 Thank you Sir. I carried out the exercise. I found only 3 specific instances:- In 2 EXCESS sales/gains were shown in AIS & I've given
online feedback disagreeing with them. In 1 other NIL sales/CG was shown but i will report it as per actuals in my ITR as there is no provision in online AIS to give feedback on a sale/CG that has not been recorded in the AIS. Hope I've done the right thing. Regards Sir. You've always been a great support

11 July 2024 Yes, you are correct. Now you can easily file non defective ITR.

11 July 2024 Thank you Sir! Regards
