Respected Experts & Members of this board,
As an Individual earning more than 25000/- per month (just contemplating this for my query-whether from salary or from business),What are the different types of taxes am I liable to pay to IT dept of India?
What is professional Tax?
Who is liable to pay Professional Tax?
If one is doing business and is paying Income tax already,Is he also liable to pay Professional Tax?
What are the different conditions to be fulfilled so that one becomes eligible to pay professional tax?
If an employee is working in a firm,who pays professional tax for him?

Right now I live in Mumbai.So Maharashtra PT ACT would be levied on me.Could you all help me where I would get to read the acts?Is there any pdf format of the file availabe on the net?if yes then where ?and if no then how to make myself accustomed to the Different Acts under Maharashtra PT ACT?

Mr Dilip Vora,
Under Maharashtra Profession Tax Act,if your salary is above Rs10,000/pm,you have to pay Rs2500/- as PT in a year. This has to be paid monthly @Rs200/-pm,except in February,in which it is Rs300/-.Your employer has to deduct it from your salary and pay to the Sales tax dept every month along with others.You may visit website :www.mahavat.nic.in. Click Acts and Rules in the top list,click Maharashtra PT Act,or under Schedules click PT Act for schedule....MJK
