Pls explain the dfference between forward contract and futures? Is the delivery essential element under forward contract?

Forward Contracts are not traded on Stock Exchange whereas Futures Contracts are traded on Stock Exchange. Delievery may not be an essential element in forward contracts. It depends on terms of the contract.
