Whether an assesse can claim deduction for depriciation if he is following irregular books of accounts?

if assessee proprietor in any concern then assessee claim the depreciation

with out books of accounts how we can assess the written down depreciable value. so compulsory maintaining books of accounts in any manner for claiming depreciation
