I want to open a demat account. could any one tell me what is the procedure? what are the documents needed? how much time it will take?

You have to visit the bank or DP. If your own bank has Demat Facility it will be the best. Ideally all bankers provide good demat service. Take PAN CARD and Address Proof.

You neeed to approach the DP and get the form filled. It takes normally 15 to 20 days.
