Debit Note in GSTR1

This query is : Resolved

Quick Summary
When you return defective goods to a supplier and receive a credit note, you might wonder if you need to issue a debit note in your GSTR1 filing. The answer is no. GSTR1 is exclusively for reporting your outward supplies (sales) and related documents. Transactions involving purchases and returns, even if a credit note is issued by the supplier, do not require an entry from your side in GSTR1.

12 June 2021 I have purchased goods from supplier, and returned some of the defective goods back to him. Hence he has issued a credit note for the same. Should I enter this as a debit note while filing GSTR1 return?

12 June 2021 No need to file from your side GSTR-1 relates only to sales and related documents.

12 June 2021 Thanks a lot for your prompt reply

13 June 2021 You are welcome................
