I'm preparing for CA final may 2017. Is it necessary to quote sub section in exams or its enough to quote only main section for company law. Thanks in advance☺️

The answer written by you carries more weight when you write the correct section along with sub-section or clause and thereby substantiate the contents of the provisions.
In case of definitions you know it is enacted under section 2 of the Act, ans let us say the question is asked on "Key Managerial Personnel". Can you expect the examiner to be impressed with your answering stating as per section 2 without mentioning the sub-section?
One of the reason for low scoring would be incorrect quoting of section, stating wrong provision, wrong interpretation of statute etc. So when studying make sure you give importance to the section along with sub-section / clause with provisions as enacted which convey the correct meaning.
