Can some one explain the procedure for conversion of a sole propritorship into a private limited company with reference to the corporate law and the mca formalities? what are the safeguards to be taken from the point of view of the propritor?

You should take name approval under Form 1A, incorporate the company and then takeover the firm's business. There is nothing like conversion. If sole proprietor is himself promotor and director, it is deemed as conversion.
