Sub contractor means a part of work which is assigned to him by the main contractor.

Contractor is a person to whom contract work has been given and who is responsible to the principal and he will be held responsible for any wrong doing .
whereas a sub -contractor is appointed by the contractor for doing a part of work assigned to him . A sub-contractor usually have no direct nexus to principal
