I have received a Notice from IT Department for non filing of income tax return for the Assessment year 2013-2014 and furnish response to complaiance Moudule on the e filing portal. I have audited My book of accounts for the above said year but not file the return. Can I file the return under section 142(1) of the income tax act.

yes, you can file return in response notice under sec 142

As i have seen such notices, these are not notice u/s 142(1).
You need to just file the reason for non filing in online manner and send the acknowledgement to your jurisdictional ito.

Your case might bi different from my view because my view is based on general notices which ITD is sending to many assessees.
