In company law, a 'member' is defined as someone whose name is registered in the company's register of members. A 'shareholder' is someone who holds shares, but they only become a formal member once their name is officially added to this register after share transfer formalities are completed.

27 January 2020 What is the difference between member and shareholder of a company?

20 February 2020 the one whose name appears in the register of members is MEMBER of the company.

20 February 2020 so to say, for an intermediate time, a person could be share holder till his/her name is not included in the register of members. Once the formalities of transfer of shares are fulfilled, his/her name appears in the register of members and then the share holder becomes member
