What is the difference between member and shareholder of a company?

the one whose name appears in the register of members is MEMBER of the company.

so to say, for an intermediate time, a person could be share holder till his/her name is not included in the register of members. Once the formalities of transfer of shares are fulfilled, his/her name appears in the register of members and then the share holder becomes member
