Communication on arrear demand : how to get the calculation

07 November 2011 There have been few questions on this topic and few answers. I too got a e-Mail notice for whooping demand of 5,00,034(this means I had got atleast 3 times more money -- I wish I really got it) for Ay 2007-08.

I have not got any other notification. Now how do I get the actual calculation used. When we used to get mail from CPC they used to give a sheet detailing line by line their calculation side by side with ours (when we file).

Also one more question, what are the information AO uses to assess our income tax. He/She would have access to our returns and Form16 -- Anything else. This question to trace and figure out the source for me to collect the information

07 November 2011 you can ask for intimation copy u/s 143(1) from cpc or ITO, whoever is the authority at the time of filing and then compare the details.

Can you please help on the information available for AO to assess. As I believe they have Form 16 and Returns. Do they our account records (so that I can be prepared to collect the same -- it for 2006-2007 fin year).
