My father is suffering from Chronic Renal failure, and he do not have any Medical insurance and no source of income too. Can I claim the treatment expense under section 80DDB.? what will be the procedure?

Deduction available under section 80DDB is actual expenditure incurred restricted to Rs. 40000/- and Rs. 100000/- in case of dependent is a senior citizen. Parents are covered in the definition of the dependents. You need to get the certificate from the hospital in the following format:
Name of the Patient
Age of the Patient
Disease or Ailment
Name, Address, registration number of the specialist doctor issuing the prescription.
In case the treatment is undertaken in a government hospital, the prescription should mention Name and address of the government hospital.
The Form needs to be signed by the doctor/head of government hospital as the case may be.

You dont have to submit the certificate while filing the return but you should get it ready for the scrutiny purposes
