Cheque issued on different former surname/

28 September 2013 there is a shop license on my mothers name, we surrender the same and we will get the cheque of some rupees from government authority, but the matter is that the government will issue the cheque as name mention in my mother's license and my mother changed her surname in between. so how the cheque will clear if its issued with different surname

29 September 2013 SO what can be don in this case to avail the benefit of cheque. cheque is not yet issued but how can we put the new name at cheque............. Please guide

29 September 2013 It depends on the discretion of the Manager making the payment. Most of the banks may not honour the cheque even with minor discrepancy.

I understand that the cheque is crossed ' Account Payee only ' In this case convince your branch ( collecting branch ) about the identity. If your Bank certify and sends the cheque for collection the paying bank will not make any objection.

Otherwise you have to open another account.
