27 July 2009 Can we remit the professional tax deducted from employees of different state at Bangalore as HO of this office is in Bangalore and salary is being done at here .If so what is the procedure?

27 July 2009 You cannot. The object of the Act is to levy tax on the professions, trades, callings and employments carried on within the jurisdiction of the State by a State Govt. Article 276 of the Indian Constitution empowers the State Govt. to levy such tax. As such, you have to register your branches / establishments in various States, deduct prof. tax as per the slab of that particular State Govt. Act and discharge on behalf of the employees.

In addition, you have to also remit Rs.2500.00 per annum for the Company to carry on the trade in that State.

29 July 2009 Thanks for your reply. I want to clear you that, we deduct PT as per respective state slab ,only thing we remit at SBI (core bank)at Bangalore.All other assesment would be done at respective state . Please suggest.
