my brother is opening a shop in himachal sir my question is that he is starting a rags shop whetherit is compulsury for him to acquire sales tax no. because the business is not a vary large level please suggest me

Minimum business required for a registration under HP VAT Act,2005 is Rs4 lakhs per year. If your brother manages so much or more business then he can apply for registration under HP VAT law.Otherwise let him wait till he becomes liable for it....mjk
