In regards to new car perquisite rule, if car is owned by wife of an employee but used by the employee and expenses are reimbuse by the comapny, can be considered as perquisites in hands of employee?

If yes, then is it reqiured to have in writting from wife of an employee that the car has been used by the employee ?

04 March 2010 Better to have it in writing. Secondly, ask the employee to maintain all expense vouchers like driver's salary. Log book for travel done by the car so that the same can be exempt to the extent possible.
