confusion on dis issue.....

while making indxtn of asset acrd from previus owner(sec.49(1) )who acuried it b4 1/4/81,indexation wil strat from DATE of acuisition by ..........
curent owner or previous owner???????

26 July 2010 if it is acquired before 1.4.81 indexation will be 100... after 1.4.81 it would be the date wen 1st held by the assessee...
