my question is whether tution, coaching centers, are covered as eligible business u/s 44AD or not. if not then whether the provision of maintaining books of accounts for income above Rs. 120000/- is sustainable or not

any professional income is not covered , it is now clarified in FB 2012 too. The maintenance of books of account is sustained whether you are doing Business or non-specified profession.
