An Individual having date of bith as on 01/04/1943 can claim himself as senior citizen in tax computation for Asst year 2008-09

Senior Citizen is individual who is resident in India and who is of age of 65 years or more at any time during the previous year.

Yes, he can claim himself as Senior citizen provided he should not be Non-Resident(u/s 6(1)).
If he is non-resident then he will be treated as Individual who is not senior citizen.
