This discussion addresses whether a deceased individual's legal heirs can receive government benefits due to the deceased regularly filing income tax returns. While no benefits are typically available for future years without income, the legal heirs are obligated to file an Income Tax Return (ITR) for any taxable income already earned by the deceased. This filing can be done either as a representative assessee or directly in the hands of the legal heirs.
