what's the meaning of Statutory liquid Ratio

As against the total deposits a bank branch has with them a specific percentage has to be kept by banks in cash, deposit with rbi and bonds of rbi where it can be encased immediately. It is nothing but immediate cash available to branch. The percentage will be given by rbi from time to time.
