Can any body tell me how much time will take assessment of income tax ?

If we filed Income tax return before due date then how much time will take assessment ?

02 December 2009 there is various time limit for the assessment

normally time is 21 month from the end of AY in which retun is file,

u/s 143(3),/ 144

02 December 2009 For Regular Assessment u/s 143(3); first of all your case may be selected for scrutiny by the end of September 30 of next year. If you filed your Return on 30/05/2009 or 31/12/2009 for A.Y.2009-10 then it can be taken for scrutiny upto 30 09 2010.

However; assessment has to be completed by 31 12 2010.
