01 November 2010 Can an part time accountant represent his employer in case of service tax assessments in fornt of the service tax department. Is it necessary only a full time accountant need to represent the case in front of income tax department or even a part time accountant can represent the case.

02 November 2010 Any person may be representative of the assessee , no matter whether part time or full time employee.

02 November 2010 Mr. Shailesh Kumar has rightly pointed out but I wish to include one word i.e. any AUTHORISED person.
In absence of authority letter no one can appear before any board.

03 November 2010 Anybody can appear before any Authority upto the level of Appeal with a valid Authority letter of the company. No requisite qualification is required.
