can we have articleship with one CA & practice with another CA in same city as we want to do variety of work

As per rules it is not allowed to practice with the other CA Firm. You have to carry out the work based on approval from your CA Firm and its the principal who is responsible for your work.
However You can do an assignment for your firm in other firms and thereby get exposure.
