I RECEIVED COMMUNICATION ON 06/07/12 FROM CPC BANGALORE STATING THAT I NEED TO PAY ARREARS FOR AY 2008-09 AND I NEED TO CONTACT AO WHICH HAPPENS TO BE IN DELHI WHERE I WAS POSTED TILL JULY 2011. NOW I AM IN MANGALORE. DO I NEED TO GO ALL THE WAY TO DELHI FROM MANGALORE JUST TO PAY THE ARREARS OS RS.2000.. PLEASE ADVISE ME WHAT TO DO.

If ur liable to pay the tax, then pay online OR they will adjust these arrears in ur future income tax refund.

First you should find out whether the demand as intimated to you is actually payable or not if yes then pay it online and in future you need not worry about sending the demand again.
It seems that you have not changed your address and the procedure to change the same is as follows:
1) Go to the site of NSDL
2) Opt for change in PAN data
3) Fill up the data upload the form pay the fee and your address will be changed
4) Send a letter to the Manglore Commissioner he will record the change of address and all communication will be send to your Manglore address.
