Can a Company secretary be appointed as the Whole time director of the same Company?

Primafacie Company Secretary being in whole time employment of the Company can also hold the position of WTD. Lot of respected Company Secretaries i know, are Vice President in their companies probably that is equivalent to WTD or more.
