I SOLD AN APARTMENT WHICH WAS AQUIRED IN 1990. HOW SHOULD I DERIVE ITS MARKET VALUE ON 1.04.2001 FOR THE PURPOSE OF INDEXATION?

Agreed. One more option is to get the circle rate of the flats in the area as of April, 2001; from Sub-Registrar office of the region.
