23 April 2008 P.A.N is allotted by Computerised System but howeve one can identified the status of the assessees by tracing 4th word in P.A.N No. Eg. if 4th word is P it means it is individual, if 4th word is F it means it is Partnership Firm, If 4th word is H It means it is HUF.
