Acquisition means acquiring company / business. Purpose could be to buy business. Acquisition results in change of ownership and ownership change can be implemented by merger of acquired company with company owned by buyer.
Merger means merging two or more companies into one. Purpose could be to improve synergies between business being carried by two companies / change of ownership pattern.
De merger means breaking a company into two or more companies. Purpose could be restructuring of businesses being carried in a company.
