10 March 2014 A Person suffering from hearing disability & has to use the aid of hearing machine for hearing whether will be eligible for claiming deduction under section 80U ?? IF can avail how to claim it ie who will determine the level of disability....

The medical authorities who are deemed to certify are:
-A Neurologist with an MD in Neurology.
-For children, a Paediatric Neurologist having an equivalent degree.
-A Civil Surgeon or Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of a government hospital.

11 March 2014 That means such individual can claim the exemption and its not necessary that the Doc. should be an govt. doctor????
