Can anybody clarifiy as what is the the outer limit of rebate u/s 80 d for instance …can a individual claim a deduction upto Rs.15000 for self & spouses & addtionally Rs20000 for dependent parents who are senior citizens.

The maximum limit would not exceed Rs 20000 in any case.
Take it this way If you have mediclaim for semior citizen then the limit will extend from 15000 to Rs 20000.
IF you have 2000 for senior citizent ten the maximum limit for you would be Rs 15000+2000=17000.
Please let me know of any concern.
