08 February 2011 A chartered accountant receives a request from a company for being appointed as the statutory auditor of the company. The directors of the company are related to the CA and a promoter shareholder of the company is the spouse of the CA. But there are no other personal interest by the CA in the company.

Can this request be accepted. Will it be against the independence of the auditor as per the guidance note. Please give your comments.

08 February 2011 No u should not accept the appointment as the same is against the auditors independence.
