19 July 2016 My Father a senior citizen got a heart attack and had to go medical treatment and a stunt was injected in his heart. I have spent 50000 on his medical treatment.

Can i get deduction u/s 80DDB or any other section of income tax act.

19 July 2016 In case you are a tax payer & your father is 60 years or more (you mentioned he is Sr Citizen) & dependent on you then you can claim actual expense or Rs 60000/- (whichever is less) u/s 80DDB. To ensure the coverage of treatment done you have to check that section with medical term of such ailment.

20 July 2016 That is what i am asking sir. whether the heart attack ailment is covered u/s 80 DDB , on reading the specified disease mentioned there, i am still not able to conclude, required expert advice on same

20 July 2016 One more thing to add, in case you have got any claim from any Insurance Co regarding the said treatment, said amount will be deducted from the expenses. Further you have to consult the Dr with list of specified diseases (u/s 80DDB) for his guidance in pin pointing under which it may get covered.
